In the City of Royal City, we are defined less by boundaries on a map than by the sense of shared values our residents hold dear. Small town values, guided growth, preservation of historical, cultural, and natural heritage are just a few of the core principles that makes City of Royal City a wonderful place to call home. Royal City is a relaxed farming community in the heart of the Columbia Basin. Our location makes it ideal for sportsman and vacationers to enjoy some of the best recreation spots in Grant County. The Potholes Reservoir is the largest earthen filled dam open to the community for water sports, boating, some of the best fishing and a whole lot of family fun!

The Potholes Reservoir is part of the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. It is formed by the O'Sullivan Dam and located in central Washington, in the United States. The reservoir is fed by water from Moses Lake, part of the Crab Creek basin. The area features several lakes. A large private resort, a state park, and several developed public access areas provide all necessary amenities for this large reservoir. Most anglers fish for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, and Largemouth Bass. During the winter, early-spring, and fall months, trout fishing can be very good for rainbows up to and exceeding 20 inches. In certain years, the reservoir freezes over providing an ice fishery for Yellow Perch, Walleye, and Rainbow Trout. The Lind Coulee Arm of Potholes Reservoir is a popular spot to ice fish.
