Adams is a city in Adams Township, Mower County, Minnesota. The population was 683 at the 2020 census. The village of Adams was platted on January 30, 1868, by Selah Chamberlain. A two-room public school was built in 1869 and was later expanded to four rooms. The village was officially incorporated on March 2, 1887. According to the History of Mower County, published in 1884, William Madden named the town after "a Mr. Adams," an old friend in New York State. Adams is in southern Mower County, surrounded by the northeast part of Adams Township.
Adams features many parks and recreational areas as well as the Adams Area History Center and Armed Forces Museum. The Shooting Star Trail Scenic Byway, one of the first scenic byways established in Minnesota, provides a beautiful 30 mile scenic route to walk, run or bike.
